The Soulville Steakhouse, Nottingham

We had been meaning to visit this restaurant for a while and so after an unsuccessful shopping trip in the rain we decided to cheer ourselves up and go in.

The music played is all soul and Motown classics. The interior offers a visual feast on its own, a spiral staircase leads to a small upper level and the walls are full of posters and phrases...we certainly didn't get bored.

After spending a lot of time drooling over the menu I went for the 8oz sirloin steak cooked medium/rare. Not being able to decided what sauce to have I went for two...to share of course...red wine gravy with caramelised red onion and smoked bacon and the Jack Daniels Tennessee whisky sauce.

I was sooo excited to see my plate appear at the top of the staircase...packed full with tasty foods. I could not fault anything with this meal. The steak was cooked just how I like it, no fat and juicy. The sauces complemented the steak and chips well. Even the salad was tasty with a lemony dressing.

Despite my belly pushing against my belt I still needed to try the pudding. This didn't take long to decide at all...Bailey's Profiterole Toffee Cheesecake...I love all these things. The toffee was rich and addictive, the best cheesecake I have ever eaten!
